HOw can we bankrupt monsanto? (one pizza at a time)
above drawing by wendell FOOD SOVEREIGNTY IS A HUMAN RIghT
we believe that no one can patent nature, that the concept of terminator seeds is fascist and that monsanto is out to control the world's food supply. Pizza to the people supports the work of activists like Vandana Shiva (nobel peace prize winner) and her organization navdanya in india which is actively fighting monsanto by empowering farmers. Growing food and starting a seed bank is a way to resist this effort to starve the world and make us slaves. we support local farmers, this is more than a slogan for us. Our friends and families work hard for little money and often without health insurance or retirement funds, yet they are providing us all with an essential service. supporting them is a form of activism, a vote for the good life, for the old ways and for the future. we are careful where we put our money and as often as possible we like to place it in the grubby hands of our buddies. we trust them and you can too. organic food is our way of life, it is not a fashion statement. we try to combat the perception that organic is elitist, we believe all people deserve to eat clean food free of chemicals. we aren't rich but we prioritize food in our personal budgets and hope that we can spread the importance of spending a bit more on organic food and resisting the trap of artificially low prices. We also believe in the slow food manifesto and WE share THE desire to preserve ancient food traditions AND artisanal productions as a way to resist the pressure of the industrial food/PHARM COMPLEX. we are wild food foragers, jam makers, devotees of old recipes, keepers of funky yeasts, herb drying tea concocters, tincture steepers, medicine growers, cider pressers, beer brewers, beekeepers, fire starters and bread bakers and we have faith in our ability to take care of ourselves and each other. self-sufficiency is the road to freedom from a system designed to hobble us. rise up, plant a garden, save the seeds! as alice waters says, it's a"delicious revolution" so let's be careful where we spend our money, take care of the soil, be healthy and enjoy the tremendous pleasure of eating GOod food together.spread the word!
